Parish School of Religion (PSR)
The
Parish School of
Religion is a religious education program, for Grades 1-8, offered to
our parish children who attend public
schools. The aim of the program is to familiarize the
students
with the basic knowledge and beliefs of their Catholic faith and
instill Catholic values in each student. It also prepares
the students for the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and
Confirmation.
PSR classes begin
the first Wednesday of September and end the last Wednesday of
April. Classes are from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. each
Wednesday.
There is a two year
preparation program for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist,
celebrated in the second grade, and
Confirmation, celebrated in either Grade 7 or 8 of even numbered years.
Class registration for
new students is done by appointment with the PSR coordinator.
All students are
required to attend all classes unless they are sick or for other
extraordinary reasons. Sports, gymnastics, etc. are not
considered extraordinary reasons. They are also required to
come to one of the Masses on all weekends preferably with their family.
If you have any
questions or comments regarding the PSR program, contact
Sr. Marilyn Chall, OSF, the PSR Coordinator, at 636.239.3520, Ext. 107
